I braved the drizzle this weekend and harvested over 3 pounds of fresh plants to make my herbal tonic syrup.

Here’s a description below and a link to purchase it on etsy.  When available, I give this to my pregnant clients as a part of their prenatal care package to give them a little nutritional boost or to improve blood hemoglobin levels or treat other bothersome symptoms like constipation, hemorrhoids and so on. A lot of people compare it to Floradix, but it’s my local, handmade version. (More information about blood building in pregnnacy).

This handcrafted herbal syrup is delicious and promotes health on many levels.

Use this syrup as an alternative to multi-vitamin/mineral supplements. This syrup is packed with herbal nutrition, notably Iron, Calcium, Magnesium and B vitamins, Chlorophyl, Silica and many trace minerals.

The tonic effectively relieves symptoms of anemia. My clients report that it increases energy levels, relieves constipation and helps some with hemorrhoids and varicose veins. Itis an excellent safe pregnancy tonic. Children like it too!

I’ve made this syrup by hand using a variety of wildcrafted herbs or herbs that I’ve grown organically in my Minnesota garden. The herbs include: Red Raspberry Leaf, Nettle Leaf, Yellow Dock Root, Dandelion Leaf, Dandelion Root, Horsetail, Rosehips, Alfalfa Oatstraw . The herbs were made into a strong decoction and simmered on the stove imparting their medicinal properties into the water. Black Cherry Concentrate and Raw Minnesota Wildflower Honey were added for sweet flavor, extra iron and excellent preservative properties. The addition of a small amount of brandy increases the preservative powers.

Herbal syrups have great longevity. They will last for months and months stored in the fridge.
